Class of 2023 Admission Rates

Here’s a Look at Some of the First Admission Rates for the Class of 2023. Colleges are releasing admission decisions, and it’s another competitive year for students applying to highly-selective schools, with admission rates remaining historically low at some of the country’s most competitive colleges and universities. MIT was one of the first to release admissions data, with decisions coming on their traditional notification date of Pi Day, 3/14. It was another competitive year at MIT, with 6.6% of applicants admitted to the class of 2023. Even in light of the recent college admissions scandal, it’s business as usual with colleges releasing their admissions decisions and results through the rest of March. Application NumbersOnce again, many colleges reported a record-high number of applications for the class of 2023, although the gains are not as high as previous years. Harvard University reported a record-high number of applications to the class of 2023, with 43,330 students applying – a modest 1.4% gain over last year. Dartmouth College also reported a record-topping applicant pool with 23,641 students applying to the Ivy League school. Brown University and Boston College also reported record numbers, 38,640 and 35,000 respectively. Also setting records was Yale’s class of 2023 applicant pool, with 36,829 applying this fall, an increase of 4.3% over last year. The University of Pennsylvania also joins the club, with a record-setting 44,960 students applying to class of 2023 – another modest gain of 1% over the previous year.
